Evie was down for a mid-morning nap, a common occurrence for her as she got closer to the end of her pregnancy. She was 39 weeks along and it was exhausting but it was also difficult to sleep long, she couldn't get comfortable or would have to get up to use the bathroom often. Like normal her nap was a short one before she was woken, only it was a pain in her stomach which while those weren't uncommon either it was stronger than normal and she that she wouldn't be able too just change positions and make it go away so she could go back to sleep. Little Lucas was just about ready to enter the world.
The good thing about Mae crashing with Evie for a bit, even though a couple weeks had turned into 6 and counting, was that Evie was a bit less lonely while Alex was away at school. Though Mae wasn't there a lot either, she'd found a new job and a new girlfriend so she was usually occupied with one of them, but she still made some time for Evie too, mostly so they could shop for baby stuff which was piling up in the nursery waiting for Alex to come home so he and Evie could set it up together. And when Evie came down with a brutal cold that left her confined to bed, or to the sofa at least, Mae was there to help look after her.
It had been a couple weeks that Mae had been missing for. She still hadn't called anybody. Evie had gone to check in with Mae's work however, and learned that she'd shown up since leaving home but that she'd been fired. Which had been cause for concern, Mae loved her job and it was concerning that she'd gotten herself fired and even more concerning to think about how she was taking it. Though, a couple days later Evie hadn't learned from a friend of Mae's that she'd planned to take what would have been her honeymoon as a vacation. So it helped to know she was probably just relaxing on a beach somewhere, trying to take a break from all the stress. So Evie eased up on the phone calls, only trying to check in every couple days. She still wanted to hear directly from Mae that she was okay but tried to respect her apparent desire for space.
Clearly though, Mae was back from her vacation as she'd shown up on Evie's doorstep. Evie nearly knocked her over in a hug when she opened the door to see her standing there. "I'm so glad you're here."
Evie had tried calling Mae several times throughout the day but unsurprisingly never got an answer. She hadn't left any messages but she was making her last call of the day so she waited for the beep and left a message. "Look Mae, I know you're still mad at me, though I still don't understand why. I didn't do anything, I didn't do anything to make Julianne feel the way she does and I don't return the feelings. I mean, I have Alex and I'm happy, why would be after anyone else? I wouldn't do that to you anyway. Okay, anyway, back on topic I'm really worried about you and mom and dad are worried. So please just call me back and let me know if you're okay, you don't have to really talk to me or anything. You can just say "hey, I'm okay...leave me alone now" and hang up. I don't care, just call me or mom or somebody. Please?"
Evie and Mae hadn’t talked in 2 weeks. Mae had left as soon she woke up the next day after Evie had brought her home from the club, despite Evie’s pleading to talk she walked out without a word. Evie had tried calling a few times too but Mae never answered or returned her calls. She’d even tried to get her mom to help who promised she’d try but said Evie would probably just have to be patient, Mae would come around eventually, “You know how her moods are. She’ll get over it.”
But with 2 weeks having passed it had come to an important day for Evie, so she put her sister out of her mind to focus on more important, and happier , matters. She was about to find out the gender of her baby. She couldn’t be more excited, saying "he" or "she" sounded a lot nicer than “it”. Plus she was going to go shopping with Alex for baby stuff after, assuming the appointment went how they wanted. It was agonizing waiting as the ultrasound technician tried to identify the gender, it seemed to be taking forever. Alex squeezed Evie’s hand and they waited as patiently as they could
*Just a note that I did change my photo editing style. I got rid of what I used to edit before so it's easier to use different methods, also I just wanted to. Just wanted to note that in case anybody wonders why or whatever.*
It was Evie, and of course Mae’s, 18th birthday so Alex had flown in to visit for the occasion. It was also, being only 6 days after Valentine’s day, their Valentines celebration. Alex had gotten in at almost 1am, so they’d slept in late and packed up a picnic lunch to take with them on a leisurely stroll through the park. It was all they really had planned for their Valentine’s date, they didn’t need much just to be together. They had the club with Mae in the evening anyway as birthday celebrations, so something more laid back was welcomed.
“So, I can’t believe I forgot to ask… I was just so exhausted and out of it I guess, but how was the doctor’s yesterday?” Alex asked as they sat in the park with their picnic lunch.
Alex had gone back to school, so Evie had been moping around her house which suddenly seemed very big and very empty without him there. She didn't know why it was suddenly so much harder that he was gone, but she wished she hadn't let him leave. He'd tried to stay, not wanting to leave her alone for so much of her pregnancy, or just at all really, but she insisted he go back to school. Perhaps it was just all the excitement that had happened in his last week or so in Moonlight Falls, or that she had just gotten used to him being there. Or maybe it was just her pregnancy making her more emotional. Or a mix of everything, but whatever it was she was slightly miserable.
So this part of the holiday special is actually going to do something different and just have some fun (not that I didn't have fun with the Christmas part). Evie, Alex, and myself are hosting a NYE party because one of us loves NYE very much and wants to party and also did not plan this half of the special that well so I have nothing better to do haha. However, before we party, there is one thing that must be done. Evie and Alex have an announcement to make. Yes, they have *more* excitement to share.
Evie had been visiting Alex at his college as much as she could between tour stops and he’d flown out to a couple of her tour stops on his long weekends. They’d also talked on the phone pretty much every day. But he was visiting Evie at her new home in Moonlight Falls for the whole month of December. She’d been watching out her bedroom window waiting for him to arrive and couldn’t get to the door fast enough when she saw a yellow taxi pull up. She was already waiting with the door wide open by the time he even got out of the taxi.
After walking in on Evie telling Mae and Nolan about Alex the next morning, her parents convinced her to invite him over for the family get together that afternoon. It didn’t take much convincing as she really wanted to see him again, but it did take a promise from her dad that he wouldn’t be too hard on Alex; a promise that did take a bit of begging to get.
