The school year went by fast. Evie was set to be the class valedictorian so she was very busy studying and making sure her grades didn't slip. She'd also secured a weekly gig at the Hoi Polloi Center to keep her busy with her music, and of course she still had her weekly gig at the karaoke bar and the occasional gig at the club. It was probably good that she had so much to keep her busy as she wasn't getting to hang around with Jules as much as it had turned out that Nolan liked him back and they'd started going out, it also meant she hung out with Nolan less. Not that she didn't have other friends to hang out with, but she wasn't near as close to them.
Soon it was Evie's birthday, and Mae's too of course. They didn't do anything too special for it just had a small party at home.
And they had some fun helping each other get makeovers.
And soon after that was graduation where Evie was indeed valedictorian. Her hard work had paid off, which made her very happy.
It was somewhat of a bittersweet day. Evie would be leaving right after graduation to go on a world tour for her music, and then she had her own home to move into when she got back. So it was a bit sad having to say goodbye to her family. Not that she wouldn't see them again. They were going to visit her on a couple tour stops and she would still live in Moonlight Falls. It just seemed so sudden even if it had been being planned for several months.
Evie hugged her parents goodbye outside of city hall, they'd part ways from there. Everybody else had plans for the rest of their day that didn't involve hanging around an airport, though they'd offered (almost insisted) she let them see her off but she didn't want them to be bored hanging around and didn't think it would be any easier to say goodbye then.
She hugged her dad first thinking he'd be the easiest to say goodbye to, just because he wasn't as emotional as her mom, but she could tell he wanted cry which made her want to, too.

"So what's it going to take to get you to stay?" He asked.
"There's nothing you can do, dad."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"Fine. I'm really going to miss you though. I can't even believe you're old enough to leave home. Anyway, I'm really proud of you and I know you're going to do amazing things out there."
"Thanks, dad. I'll miss you too. I'll call a lot though, I promise."
"I won't forgive you if you don't" He pouted, which made them both laugh a little bit.
They hugged for another moment before Evie turned to her mom who was, as she had expected, tearing up already as Evie hugged her. "Aww mom, you're going to make me cry too."
"I'm sorry. I just can't believe you're all grown up already and going off on this big adventure without us. It seems like only yesterday you and Mae were born. It seems way too soon, but I'm really happy for you. And really proud, you've worked really hard to get where you are. "
"Thanks, mom. It doesn't feel like I have though. Like I should be going to college or something. Like you and dad were almost done college at my age."
"Yes and we were also doing silly things like making babies"
"Um... thanks? Good to feel loved, mom. And ew."
Her mother let her go and smiled, "Oh please, you know you were always wanted and you're very loved. Anyway what happened? I stayed home raising babies for a while. Finally got a job with my degree but it made me miserable. It took me a while to find what I wanted to do. Your father may have settled in better, but still. Yet here you are, you know what you want in life and you're very successfully pursuing it. Neither your father nor I can say we had so much success by your age. And you didn't get where you are without hard work. Nobody handed you anything, you got out there and fought for it. It may seem like it's all happened so fast but that's only because of the effort and passion you put into it... and your amazing talent."
"Thanks mom, that means a lot."
"I can't wait to watch you take the whole world by storm on this big tour of yours. And I can't wait to hear about all the adventures you'll have along the way."
"I can't wait to tell you all about them."
"Good. Now I guess it's time for you to head out on those adventures. I don't want to keep you. Well, I kind of do, but I know I can't. So, have a great trip and call me as soon as you land."
"I will. Love you, mom. I'll miss you."
"You too, but I'll see you in Monte Vista. Already counting down the days."
"Me too."
They shared another quick hug before Evie turned to look around. She wanted to say goodbye to her siblings too, though quickly because her cab had show up and was honking for her attention. But, her siblings had already left. They'd thrown her a bit of a goodbye party with her friends the night before, so they'd done the sappy bit already but she'd hoped to give them one last hug each.
She waved goodbye to her parents and climbed into the back of the cab, she had only shed a couple tears so far but as the cab pulled away she bawled her eyes out. She was excited but nervous and overwhelmed.
